West Londoners are Capital's Most Sociable Crowd

West Londoners become the Capital's most sociable crowd as they make new friends through CitySocialising.

As the new year begins, more and more young Londoners who find their social lives in a rut or who just need some fresh inspiration are looking to the internet to help them connect with people and make new friends in the Capital. However, some areas of the city seem more sociable than others.

A survey of CitySocialising's members reveals that West Londoners form an impressive 39% of their membership base. South Londoners are a close second with 37%, but East Londoners are the opposite extreme making up only 11% of members.

Platonic socials in the city are becoming increasingly popular as newcomers to the Capital seek to kick-start their social life and others look to expand their social networks and meet people they have something in common with.

City workers are also proving to be very sociable with four in every ten people who use CitySocialising working there. According to CitySocialising, a social networking and events company for young London professionals, the answer lies in people with busy jobs having less time to organise their social lives and less opportunities to meet new people.

Sanchita Saha, Managing Director of CitySocialising says: "The idea came from understanding the difficulty people face in forging new friendships when moving to the Capital or to a new area of the city. Making new friends in your 20s and 30s, especially in a vast city like London and organising your social life with work and time constraints can be hard to do.

"People want to meet in a platonic, relaxed and informal way. We are helping people make the most of the brilliant city they live in and form new networks of like minded friends and contacts at the same time."

24-year-old Laura Babb from West London says: "I have been in London for around three years but I was in a long term relationship most of this time so I hadn't made nearly enough effort to meet people and make new friends. My social life is more important to me now than ever before and CitySocialising has been a really easy and laid-back way to make good friends in London."

31-year-old City worker Dino Purnomo says: " London is a great city with so many people and so much to offer but I find I'm just too busy to sort out my social life. In my case, a number of friends have moved abroad too and I'd like to expand my circle of friends so I can make the most of living here. CitySocialising provides me with a friendly and un-intimidating way to socialise with new people and explore more of London's social scene at the same time."

CitySocialising is the only social networking company to operate across the whole of London. The service enables young professionals to connect, meet and socialise in groups at regular days and nights out and discover new parts of the city.

With over 6,000 members and growing, online services such as CitySocialising offer busy career workers the chance to make the most of living in one of the world's most famous capitals.

2.       About CitySocialising

Sanchita Saha founded CitySocialising in January 2005 with the aim to create an easy and relaxed way for newcomers and young professionals in London enjoy the same positive experiences of the city that she has benefited from.

Originally from Reading, Sanchita moved to London at 18 to study at University College London (UCL) developing a strong network of friends over the next 12 years in through the city, meeting them through work, friends and friends of friends.

However, her school friends' and colleagues' less positive experiences of moving to London later on in their mid-20s and 30s, and having less time and opportunities to meet new people and build a social network, inspired her to create a service to connect those who were seeking to meet and socialise with other like minded people and make new friends in the Capital.

Identifying that real friendships were cemented over time and based on sharing happy, positive experiences and fun times together, Sanchita's aim was to re-create her own encounters of going out to London's multitude of bars, restaurants and galleries, socialising and having fun with friends for others.

CitySocialising is a service which allows young London professionals to both connect online, and meet and socialise in groups offline, with like minded others who share similar interests or who live or work in the same area of London for example.

It is not a dating service, there are no dating games, gimmicks or connotations and no online 'profile matching'. CitySocialising is simply an easy way to meet and socialise with like minded people in relaxed and informal environments, create new social networks and make the most of London's infinite social offerings - ideal for those who have just moved to the city or those whose social circles/life in the Capital have dissipated or become stale.

CitySocialising's unique and refreshing approach to meeting new people and making new friends and contacts in the Capital is further complemented by the fact they operate across the whole of London making it a great way to discover new areas and social scenes across the city, make new local friends and socialise closer to home area.
