Experience "electronic cabaret" at VaudeVille

Published on 5th Feb 2010
People with a taste for the bizarre and avant garde may like to make a note of VaudeVille, an upcoming event at the Green Room.

Described by the Whitworth Street venue as "new electronic cabaret", the evening should appeal to anyone going out in Manchester who wants something different to A conventional open mic night.

According to the organisers, the ethos of VaudeVille is based on the original Cabaret Voltaire, a club founded in Zurich in 1916.

Events held at the Swiss venue proved important in the formation of the Dada art movement, with VaudeVille attempting to retain some of that anarchic spirit and repackage it for a contemporary audience.

Taking place on Thursday February 25th, the cabaret show features performances, poetry and examples of visual art that "embrace the extraordinary, the irrational and the contradictory", the Green Room states.

Vaudeville cost £3 on the door and the show gets underway at 7:30pm.
